The idea of the project is to develop constantly evolving teaching/learning tool along with methodology for teachers’ training that provides an innovative way of teaching and learning science enhancing comprehension through creative pedagogical tools.The methodology and tool are focused on science concepts and coherence of the educational content with the comprehension model of students, using pedagogical instruments commonly used in humanities – story telling, theatre performances, dances, graphics, videos and others.  

The aim of the project is to develop youth culture of gaining comprehension, to form comprehension in chosen subjects as well as to promote students’ creativity thus making scientific knowledge better understandable, comprehended and thus with higher probability of implementing it in real life (increased functional literacy for students).
Specific aims of this project are:
·         Implementation of student centered pedagogical approach that can stimulate their creativity and their active role in their own learning process, increasing comprehension of science subjects;
·         Training of teachers how to work with the pedagogical approach in a way to control the scientific relevance of knowledge taught and learnt on the one hand and on the other to motivate students to work alone and take responsibility for their own education;
·         Support students at risk (of early school leaving, low achievements, students with migrant backgrounds, young people outside the education system) to learn better, achieve better results at school and most importantly learn difficult subjects as science subjects in an easy and motivating way.

6.       Development of test and assessment instruments for the knowledge acquired from students by implementing the approach enhancing comprehension of teaching and learning sciences through creative pedagogical tools.

7.       Development of model lesson plans to be applied in the science teaching and learning through creative pedagogical tools.

1.       Training of teachers to work with the pedagogical approach of enhanced comprehension in teaching science trough creative pedagogical instruments.

3.       Project meetings 5 (BG, IT, LT, LV, RO)     Outputs:Database of creative pedagogical tools (videos, models, short theatre performances, stories told) (partner leading the work for this IO – VHSE “John Atanasov” and ZAT)

2.       Starter kit (manual) for physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics, which will include:

a.       Formulation/definition of the theoretical themes (concepts and relations) of the subjects in the curriculum.

b.       At least one pedagogical toolof each theme, to be used as a comprehension model of the theoretical concept (this could be a video of a short theatre performance or other type of presentation (incl. use of visual arts), a story, or another tool teachers and students create.

The manual will cover important and necessary concepts in the scientific subjects, which will allow students to use them in any grade in high school. The manual will allow them to have the overall view of the subject and the relation between concepts irrelevant in which grade of the curriculum they will be studying it. Thus the manuals will be usable in any science subject and any grade in any country, regardless of the curriculum. The manuals will give the teachers the freedom to relate concepts in scientific subjects, which often are situated in different grades for students to study, which make them forget and lose the connection between the different knowledge units, which decreases their comprehension and functional literacy.(partner leading the work for this IO – EUROED)

3.       Methodology for teachers training on how to use the pedagogical approach of enhanced comprehension in teaching science through creative pedagogical instruments.(partner leading the work for this IO – RSTS)

4.       Model lesson plans for enhancing comprehension in teaching and learning sciences (partner leading the work for this IO –Xano)

5.       Tests and assessment tools for checking of students’ progressand knowledge acquired using the methodology and approach of enhanced comprehension through the use of creative pedagogical instruments (partner leading the work for this IO – Pixel)

6.       Online tool for teaching and learning, based on the concept of crowd sourcing(partner leading the work for this IO –Connectis).

Learning/Teaching/Training Activities: Training of teachers to work with the pedagogical approach of “teaching science through humanities” – 10teachers from 7 partner countries-70people – trainingsto be held for  5 days in Bulgaria (two courses – 35 people per course).
