European Label 2004
• New Basic Skills (NBS), as described in the EU's Memorandum on Lifelong Learning and in the Commission’s Communication entitled “Making a European Area of Lifelong Learning A Reality” comprise traditional basic skills including literacy and numeracy with new skill sets (IT skills, foreign languages, entrepreneurship and social skills: communication, team-working, negotiation, etc.)
• European workers, particularly those with low to medium levels of formal education, need to develop these NBS at the workplace in a frame they can see as relevant to their situation through tools that are user-friendly, interesting and motivational.
• Internet-based Problem Solving Role-play is a short term activity which has been used in formal academic education and provides an innovative and stimulating way of fulfilling these specific educational needs.

European Label 2002
• In 2002 the EuroEd Foundation was awarded the European Label distinction by the European Commission for the successful implementation of the project Steps to the World.
• The Label is awarded annually to the most innovative and successful language learning projects. All award recipients receive a certificate signed by Mrs. Viviane Reding, Member of the European Commission responsible for Education, Training and Youth, and by the national Minister of Education.
• Steps to the World was awarded the "European Label" because it was integrative, adding transferable innovative values to the national educational context while having a European dimension, motivating both learners and teachers while being original and creative.

Read WorldAware Judges’ joint opinion about EuroEd:

“The foundation's commitment to high quality educational standards and the achievement of EC requirements for European integration are central to its success. We were impressed by the way EuroEd has met the challenges of a transitional post-communist environment and has quickly expanded its teaching and language centre building projects. The foundation presents an inspiring model to Romanians, showing how they can achieve the highest standards in management and services, and helping to enhance Romania's self-confidence as a European nation. The fact that it has expanded its programs to include work in many other emerging countries is testament to the sustainability of its operations and to the widespread contribution it is making to improve management and education practices. We particularly commend the commitment of 15% of the foundation's teaching to the disadvantaged, an important feature of its policies. It is a great pleasure to celebrate EuroEd as the first Eastern European country to receive one of the Worldaware Business Awards”.
